Richard C. Alston is a multi-talented virtuoso concert pianist, recording artist, musicology lecturer and piano coach currently residing in New Jersey.
Richard received his Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in piano performance from The Juilliard School of Music in New York City. At the age 17, Alston gave his Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center debut performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto no. 1 in Bb Minor, op. 23. Richard Alston's Classically Black award-winning lecture-concert series celebrates the life works of composers of African-American and African-European descent.
Richard Alston is currently available for solo piano recital, keyboard collaborative and chamber music concerts as well as for guest artist performances with orchestras around the world. Richard Alston's Classically Black series has been performed at universities, colleges, and recital halls around the Unites States, and Richard plans to bring his series globally in upcoming years.
Professor Alston maintains a private piano studio coaching a select group of intermediate and advanced pianists Professor Alston in a U.S. adjunct professor of The University of West London: London College of Music and offers accredited classical piano grade programs. Professor Richard Alston is currently accepting a select group of students for classical piano lessons. Lessons include technique, classical repertoire, Black music theory, ear training and music history. Professor Alston also offers London College of Music's internationally accredited grade program. Lessons are offered weekly or bi-monthly at Alston Piano Studio.
