Richard Alston is an internationally acclaimed virtuoso pianist recognized for his expressive artistry, technical mastery, and commitment to expanding the classical music canon. A graduate of The Juilliard School, with bachelor's & master's degrees. Alston has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and has appeared as a soloist with leading orchestras and chamber ensembles.

In addition to his distinguished performance career, Alston is widely respected for his scholarship and advocacy on behalf of composers of African descent. Through performances, lecture recitals, and his ongoing Classically Black series, he brings renewed visibility to historically overlooked works, uniting musical excellence with cultural and historical inquiry.
